Buyer traffic was strong in October, and our open houses were busy, but low inventory lead to non committal behavior. Buyers often second guess their purchases when there aren’t enough homes for comparison shopping.

That’s not to say houses didn’t sell in October. 49 new listings came on the market in Montclair, while 44 houses went under contract. Only 20 houses closed in October as August and September saw few buyers out.

Of note this fall has been the number of agents from well outside our area bringing buyers. Agents from Hoboken, Ridgewood, Randolph, and Morristown have all been showing the Montclair area.

It turns out, we may be more popular than ever.
